FamilyPet AI ("we," "our," or "us") operates the FamilyPet AI mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App. Please read this policy carefully. By using the App, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
- Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and a securely hashed version of your password. We do not store your password in plain text.
- Pet Profiles: You may provide information about your pets, including their name, species, breed, age, and weight.
- Pet Images: When you use our health scan feature, you upload photos of your pets. These images are stored on our servers to enable AI analysis and to maintain your scan history.
- Purchase Information: If you subscribe to our premium plan, payment processing is handled by Apple (App Store), Google (Play Store), and RevenueCat. We do not directly collect or store your credit card number or payment credentials.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Authentication Tokens: We use JSON Web Tokens (JWT) stored on your device to keep you securely signed in.
- Push Notification Tokens: If you enable push notifications, we collect your device's push notification token via Expo Push Notification services to send you alerts about scan results and app updates.
- Device Information: We may collect basic device information such as device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers solely for the purpose of delivering the App's functionality and troubleshooting issues.
1.3 Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not currently use third-party analytics SDKs or advertising SDKs.
- We do not collect precise geolocation data.
- We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 years of age.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- Provide and maintain the App: To operate your account, store your pet profiles, and deliver health scan results.
- AI Health Analysis: Your uploaded pet images are sent to our AI analysis provider (xAI/Grok) to generate health assessments. The AI analysis is for informational purposes only and is not a veterinary diagnosis.
- Scan History: To store your AI assessment results so you can track your pet's health over time.
- Push Notifications: To send you scan results, health reminders, and app updates (with your consent).
- Product Recommendations: To provide personalized product suggestions through our affiliate partners (Amazon and Chewy). When you click on a product recommendation, you may be directed to Amazon or Chewy via an affiliate link.
- Subscription Management: To manage your premium subscription status through RevenueCat.
- Improve the App: To identify and fix bugs, improve features, and enhance user experience.
- Communications: To respond to your inquiries, support requests, and send important service-related notices.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:
- AI Analysis Provider (xAI/Grok): Pet images you submit for health scans are transmitted to our AI provider for analysis. These images are used solely for the purpose of generating your health assessment.
- Payment Processors: Subscription purchases are processed through Apple, Google, and RevenueCat. These providers have their own privacy policies governing the handling of payment data.
- Push Notification Services: We use Expo to deliver push notifications to your device.
- Affiliate Partners: When you click product recommendation links, you may be redirected to Amazon or Chewy. These third parties will collect information in accordance with their own privacy policies. We may receive referral commissions but do not share your personal data with these partners.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
- Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
4. Data Storage and Security
- Storage: Your account data, pet profiles, scan images, and AI assessment results are stored on our servers.
- Password Security: Your password is cryptographically hashed before storage. We never store or have access to your plain-text password.
- Authentication: We use JWT tokens for session management, which are stored securely on your device.
- Data Protection: We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) to protect your information. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the App's services. Specifically:
- Account Data: Retained until you delete your account.
- Pet Profiles: Retained until you delete the profile or your account.
- Scan Images and Results: Retained as part of your health history until you delete them or your account.
If you request account deletion, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
6. Your Rights and Choices
- Access and Update: You can access and update your account information and pet profiles within the App at any time.
- Delete Your Account: You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at support@familypetai.com.
- Push Notifications: You can opt out of push notifications at any time through your device settings.
- Cancel Subscription: You can cancel your premium subscription at any time through Apple App Store or Google Play Store settings.

7. Third-Party Services
Our App integrates with the following third-party services, each of which has its own privacy policy:
- xAI/Grok: AI analysis of pet images.
- RevenueCat: Subscription and in-app purchase management.

- Apple App Store / Google Play Store: App distribution and payment processing.
- Amazon / Chewy: Affiliate product recommendations (accessed via outbound links).

8. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. FamilyPet AI is based in Texas, United States. If you access the App from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States where our servers are located and our central database is operated. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States.
10. California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request deletion of your personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights.
